Markus Huber was born in 1968 in Munich, Germany. He began his professional career as a boy soprano soloist with the Tölzer Knabenchor (1975-1982). Highlights of this early career development time were performances with Herbert von Karajan, James Levine, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Nicolaus Harnoncourt and Dennis Russel Davies. He studied at the Musikhochschule in Munich and Vienna with Leopold Hager (conducting), Karl-Hermann Mrongovius (piano), and others. During his studies, he was répétiteur for August Everding’s stage direction class and taught other students the art of piano accompaniment for soloists.

Markus Huber began his conducting career in 1996 as répétiteur and conductor at the Landestheater Detmold. A year later, he was appointed to the same roles and to be the director of the second chorus of Opernhaus Chemnitz. He was appointed principal conductor of the Collegium Instrumentale Chemnitz in 1999. Between 2002 and 2007, he was the principal guest conductor of the Bulgarian Chamber Orchestra, and in 2003 he became principal conductor of Westsächsisches Sinfonieorchester Leipzig. Since 2008, Markus Huber has been the Music Director of Opera Pforzheim.

By invitation, Markus Huber has conducted numerous renowned orchestras, including the Philadelphia and San Francisco Symphony Orchestras, Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie, Mannheim Opera Orchestra, Philharmonie Südwestfalen, the ORF- Symphonieorchester, Saarländischer Rundfunk, Minneapolis, Florida, Kuala Lumpur, Tokio, Singapore, Hamburger Symphoniker, Kammerorchester Heilbronn, Staatsorchester Oldenburg, Neue Philharmonie Westfalen, Turku Philharmonic, Münchner Symphoniker, Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz,Minnesota Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Omaha Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra, Nashville Symphony Orchestra, Utah Symphony Orchestra, Des Moines Symphony Orchestra and others.

In 2018 he will be invited in New Orleans/Louisiana Philharmonic, Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland Pfalz, Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie/Concert in Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Philharmonie Südwestfalen, Landesjugendorchester Rheinland Pfalz, Johann-Strauß Ensemble Linz, Bergische Symphoniker, Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie.
